The foundation gives an annual scholarship to a Bloomfield High School graduate. We sponsor little league teams and major teams annually. "John is the founder of the Crecco Athletic Club which held its 39th annual track meet last year, in which over 200 children participated."
Thousands have worn medals and over 35 boys and girls from Bloomfield for many years have gone on to become New Jersey Junior Olympic Champions. In 1991, John Crecco was the first non-Bloomfield High School alumnus to be inducted into the Bloomfield Athletic Hall of Fame for his lifetime of dedication to Bloomfield's youth.
John Crecco also sponsored the "Helping Hands" of Bloomfield. This program places signs throughout the community to let children know where to find a "Helping Hand" in case of need.
John Crecco has also been active in the fight against drug abuse
for several years. He was the first area official to sponsor drug
abuse teleconferences to educate our youth on the dangers of substance abuse.
His theme has been "Choose Life, Not Drugs".
John Crecco was at the forefront of fighting drug abuse long
before other elected officials recognized its affect on our youth.
